Counselling Psychologist
The Divergent Space
I'm a HCPC registered Chartered Counselling Psychologist with a Doctorate from York St John University (2025), and I've spent nearly a decade working with neurodivergent people across a range of roles, including within diagnostic services for both ADHD and Autism.
I'm neurodivergent myself, and discovering this as an adult gave me a perspective I bring into every therapeutic relationship. I understand firsthand what it feels like to navigate a world not built with you in mind.
My doctoral research explored the lived experience of ADHD through the lens of mattering and rejection sensitivity, and this informs how I think about and work with the emotional and relational dimensions of neurodivergence. Much of my clinical work has focused on what comes after a diagnosis: the questions, the reframing, the relief, and sometimes the grief. In my previous role within an NHS adult ADHD service, I co-produced and co-delivered post-diagnostic support groups for ADHDers, and I understand that a label is just the beginning of that journey.
Before pursuing a career in psychology, I spent five years working in Higher Education supporting students facing a wide range of challenges. During that time I completed a Level 5 Teaching Qualification in Teaching Students with Specific Learning Differences, and that background continues to shape how I think about access, support, and what people need to thrive.
I work collaboratively and at your pace, drawing on person-centred and humanistic values, with tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy where they're useful. My aim is to offer a space that's both professionally grounded and genuinely human, where you can explore your identity and experiences without having to mask or explain yourself from scratch.
