A bit about me

I’m currently based in Leicestershire and have a partner and two young children who love to run circles around me! I love getting out to new places and going exploring in the countryside, alongside a good lounge about at home playing games online and watching TV/films. I also love crafty things and reading a good book, I've been reading a web serial for the past 4 years and still loving it!

My journey with neurodiversity

As seems to be a common experience, my family members were diagnosed and this sparked a domino effect that then reached me. The more I’ve learnt through my own journey and through research professionally, the more I see how profoundly individual each person’s experience with neurodiversity can be. I have also seen how this intersects with painful experiences that can affect us to the current day and worked with multiple people to support them around such difficulties.
Personally, my relationship to neurodiversity is a work in process. I’m still learning how it relates to me and how to embrace these differences fully - and scaffold around things that I find hard! Professionally, I adapt my practices to meet communication differences and use a neuroaffirmative approach. This enables me to take a holistic approach to a person’s life whilst exploring how to integrate each person’s uniqueness into a strengths-based framework.

My work

I work part time in the NHS in an older adult service alongside offering online therapy through TDS to those 18+. I specialise in working with those who have experienced trauma(s) either historically or more recently that continue to affect them now. My focus is on enabling people to heal their past whilst empowering them to make meaningful changes to the here and now.
I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to tailor each treatment to the individual’s needs using a holistic approach. My main way of working is using compassion focused therapy and EMDR, but also integrate elements of other therapeutic approaches as appropriate.

Working with TDS

I trained up in Lancaster with the founder of the divergent space, Dr. Helen Gowling. Working with and seeing Helen grow over the years helped me to become more comfortable with my own neurodiversity and address needs I had long kept hidden. I feel truly privileged to be part of the neurodivergent community and the team here at The Divergent Space.
